Links And Code From My Affiliate Summit West 2009 Presentation

Wow, what a crazy session. First my laptop display would not get off of dual monitors.. (mostly because my mac keyboard drivers for windows are borked and FN+F7 doesn’t work– couldn’t find a work around in time). So I had to flip everything around and give the demo with my back to the audience while trying to view the actual screen. Things kinda went down hill… PowerPoint wanted to display the sideshow on the primary display (not the big display hooked up to the projector)… So it was slow going. So we skipped most of the slides and went right to the live demo. My laptop froze… luckily it didn’t freeze till people had seen the actual demo.. whew.. But on reboot it was still dead, so no more slides. The rest of the session was me doing Q&A and the rest of the slides from memory. To make matters even crazier, several people started to leave throughout the beginning of the presentation…. But, those that stayed “got it,” and were very zoned in to what we were talking about regarding automation.

Considering how bad things started I think it ended very well. People we asking good questions and I could tell a lot of people were excited about what was available to them as far as automating their daily stat downloads and ppc campaign creation.

  1. I certainly wouldn’t beat yourself up. Shit like this happens but you still gave the attendee all the info they would need to provoke ideas on how they could introduce automation in to their campaigns.

Regarding people leaving. Maybe the organisers should have given more info to delegates. If people do not code or have no intention of coding then the presentation wasn’t for them. This could have ben made clear in the crappy laser printed delegate pack.

Anyway looking forward to buzzing round your code. Personally I found it a very worthwhile presentation.

    Good job

  2. How do I watch the presentation? . . .

I downloaded C# and Visual Basic, but cant run it?

  3. It was a great presentation… But way over my head as far as programing. Keep it up John!

I’ll be setting up kwgrouper this week and let you know how it goes.

  4. Hey John,

The presentation was nice, despite the minor technical difficulties. The great thing is that this can be used to automate anything, not just for the example that you demonstrated at the presentation.

Also, thanks for putting me on to FireBug…definitely a keeper!

  5. Do you mind providing the slides? That’d be nice!
