JAH Adwords To Yahoo Or MSN

If you want to get your adwords campaigns into yahoo or msn quickly, this will do it.
AdwordsToYahooOrMsn

The instructions are in the app..

New Updated version 12/11/2009:
Yahoo match types are done “correctly” (as correct as you can going from google to yahoo). Broad = Advance, Phrase & Exact = Standard.

Cool things.. it handles converting DKI from adwords to msn/yahoo. (You should double check the final file before importing to yahoo search marketing or msn adcenter)
One bad thing is it cuts the last character of your adtext off if your ad text used the full 35 characters in both lines in adwords. Yahoo and MSN both only let you use 70 characters for the adtext total.
Google gives you a line feed in there but that converts to a space 35 + 1 + 35 = 71.. Yahoo and MSN won’t accept it… so… it cuts off the very last character… Check your ads..

In msn it will put the keyword target url as {param1}, {param2} is {keyword} and {param3} is {KeyWord}
Then it puts them in the adtext as appropiate. {KEYWORD} and {KEYword} won’t work .. and google doesn’t really let you use {KEYWORD}, {KEYword} for long anyways, since it results in “illegal” ads.

Works on Mac, Windows and Linux. Runs locally, no server interaction etc required.

Text of instructions from app:

Convert an Adwords Editor Campaign CSV Export For Upload In Yahoo
1) In Adwords Editor Right Click on the campaign and choose “Export Spreadsheet CSV” — Or select several campaigns and use the menu to export the selected campaigns as CSV
2) Open the exported file here
3) Confirm the Yahoo filename
4) Upload to Yahoo (Make sure to set your budgets, and review things in yahoo after you import)
This will automatically compensate for yahoo’s lack of {keyword} insertion in the ad URL by creating unique keyword URL’s if you are using {keyword} insertion in adwords.

*Ads longer then 70 characters will be trimmed to 70 (so you will lose the trailing character on ads that use 35 characters on both lines in adwords)

For MSN, it is the same thing (just click the MSN button instead) It will use {param1} in MSN to handle keyword insertion and use any URL filters you have defined below. [Note you will need to use the adCenter Desktop program to import the MSN generated file] — Also on MSN you can export for just search or just content or both. If you want it to attempt Keyword insertion in the text of your google ads, select MSN Attempt KWI then {keyword:My default} will be set to {param2} (which MSN uses for KWI) and {param2} will be set to the keyword. {KeyWord} will be conveted using {param3} and inserted into the ads using {param3}

If you want anything cleaned out or replaced in your google urls during yahoo conversion, this is the place to do it. For example, say you are using a clickbank product that allows you to send your google tracking id in the URL for conversion tracking. You can put the google version on the left and the yahoo version on the right, so that when the URL’s are converted they will have the yahoo tracking code instead. Are you using the {creative} or {ifContent:}, etc? Enter them on the left with nothing on the right and they will be set to empty. (In summary this is a search and replace that all URL’s are run through during processing, you can leave these all blank if you don’t want to use them)

I leave you with one of the greatest songs of all time.
