Ad Blindness is a Myth
This will be short and to the point. People do generally try and ignore advertisements. They don't like them, but they put up with them.
However, as soon as there is an ad for something they want people immediately get excited.
When reading a web page, watching TV, driving in a car you are inundated with advertisements. We all ignore them. But our brain is taking everything in... everything. Sure we may not remember each detail, but it is stored up in our noggin. Our brain knows what we like. As soon as an advertisement is noticed that matches our wants/needs/desires, whammo! We see it. We don't even think about it.
You can be looking at a page with 12-15 different ads on it and ignoring all of them while reading the tiny news article in the middle of the page. If there is an ad for a product/service you were thinking about the ad suddenly "appears."
So.. don't fret so much over ad blindness. Make better ads and target places with people who are likely to want your product.
